From puzzle piece to the big picture, or: Why your support is important
In addition to the nuclear family, professionals in educational and childcare facilities take on the responsible task of supporting our children as they grow up.
However, sufficient staff and suitable conditions for young and old are not a given. Early childhood education institutions in Austria are barely able to meet existing demand – an urgent issue for families, society and the economy.
The International Centre for Professionalisation in Early Childhood Education, or PEP for short, supports the immensely important work of educators and carers as the largest independent university institution in the German-speaking world: through qualifications, sound advice and support, but also through practical research that sets the standard for quality in early childhood education – throughout Austria and beyond.
With your help, we can expand our entire range of services for educators, nurseries and kindergartens and provide our children with the highest quality in early childhood education and care.
Focus on "Child welfare and children's rights"
- What does it take for children to feel completely comfortable, well cared for and safe in nurseries and kindergartens?
- How can children's right to participation be implemented in an age-appropriate manner?
- And how can we create a stimulating everyday environment with high-quality interactive experiences?
Nurseries and kindergartens bear a great responsibility for safeguarding children's welfare and rights. The PEP supports the important work of educators through practical research, advice and guidance.
With your support, we would like to develop effective practical materials for educators, expand advisory services for institutions and advance research for practical application.

Focus on "Little World Explorers"
The motto of young children is "discovering the world". The Centre for Elementary Education aims to create a learning and living environment in which children can gain diverse and rich experiences and are actively supported by well-trained caregivers:
- How can we create an inspiring and learning-friendly environment for "world explorers"?
- How can we best promote the individual development of children?
- How can we support children's educational processes in mathematics, technology, language and physical activity?
- And how can we ensure equal opportunities and participation for all children?
With your support, we would like to offer more training opportunities for educators and institutions, provide high-quality materials for everyday educational activities, and promote practical research on early childhood education.

Focus on "Quality in childcare"
- How can high quality in child education and care be ensured?
- How does the relationship between professionals and children affect child development?
- How can children's perspectives be incorporated into quality development?
- And how can educational teams actively reflect on and further develop the quality of their institution?
We all want a professional care environment of the highest quality for our little ones. This requires research into quality standards, but also materials and sound training opportunities for practitioners.
With your support, we would like to further expand our work for quality in early childhood education institutions:
